To all interested citizens of Newport, Kentucky:
The City of Newport intends to request approval from the Kentucky Department for Local Government (DLG) to expend program income received from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs previously completed by the City. Prior to submission of the City’s request for use of these funds for Monmouth Street Streetscape improvements and expansion of funding for the central business district façade improvements program, the City will hold a public hearing to obtain the views of the public.
This public hearing will be held at 6:30 pm EDT, July 22, 2019 in the first floor City Commission meeting room, Newport City Hall, 998 Monmouth Street, Newport, Kentucky. The purpose of this hearing is to obtain views on housing and community development needs, review proposed activities and solicit public comments. Technical assistance is available to help groups representing low- and moderate-income persons in developing proposals.
The following information concerning the CDBG program and the City’s CDBG program income is now available for public inspection during regular business hours at the customer service counter on the second floor of City Hall.
Comments on Application
Beginning July 11, 2019, a copy of the material to be submitted to DLG by the City will be on file for citizen review and comment during regular business hours at the customer service counter, 2nd floor, City Hall, 998 Monmouth Street, Newport, Kentucky.
Written comments on the proposed use of CDBG program income may be submitted to the attention of Larisa Sims, Assistant City Manager, 998 Monmouth Street, Newport, Kentucky 41071 until close of business on July 22, 2019.
