The Footlighters At The Stained Glass Theatre Presents: Pippin Now - October 9th – 802 York Street

Provided by Mary Stone

Pippin is the story of one young man's journey to be extraordinary. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this updated circus-inspired version of Pippin continues to captivate and appeal to the young at heart throughout the world. Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh, and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day.

Director: Amanda Emmons Shumate / Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz / Book by Roger O. Hirson / Music director: Alan Masters / Choreographer: Robert Fields Producers: Adrianna Boris, Amanda Emmons Shumate, and Alan Masters

“PIPPIN is rated PG-13 and contains adult themes, violence, and some sexual situations. This production uses strobe lighting effects and fog throughout the production.”

Season Tickets available for 2022-2023 season! Visit the Footlighters website for additional information or call: Ticket Line: 859-652-3849 / Theater: 859-291-7464 (SING)

Falcon Theatre opens its’ 2022-2023 season with the Regional premiere of playwright Lauren Gunderson’s The Half-Life of Marie Curie, a compelling  new play about renowned scientist Marie Curie and radical engineer Hertha Ayrton—and the friendship that strengthened their resolve to pursue their  ambitions.

Performances are October 7th and 8th, 2022.

In 1911, Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her discovery of the elements radium and polonium. By 1912, she was the object of ruthless gossip over an alleged affair with the married Frenchman Paul Langevin, all but erasing her achievements from public memory. Weakened and demoralized by the press lambasting her as a “foreign” Jewish temptress and a homewrecking traitor, Marie agrees to join her friend and colleague Hertha Ayrton, an electromechanical engineer and suffragette. The Half-Life of Marie Curie revels in the power of female friendship as it explores the relationship between these two brilliant women, both of whom are mothers, widows, and fearless champions of scientific inquiry.

Filled with snappy back-and-forth dialogue, this two-woman play is directed by Ted J. Weil, and features Tara Williams as Marie Curie and Tracy M. Schoster as Hertha Ayrton.

All performances are at 8:00 PM, Ticket prices are $28 for adults and $15 for students with valid ID. Patrons enjoy a $5 discount for Thursday performances. Visit to reserve seats.

Campbell County News:

To learn more about voter registration in Kentucky visit: Kentucky Secretary of State website. The registration deadline to be able to vote in the November 8th General Election is 4 p.m., local time, on October 11th.

Secretary of State Michael Adams has announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide voter registration information and assistance to Kentucky veterans and eligible dependents at VA facilities across the state. Under the partnership, select VA facilities in Kentucky will be designated as voter registration agencies under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.

“Up until now, Kentuckians could register to vote at drivers licensing facilities and public assistance agencies, but not Veterans Affairs facilities,” said Adams. “I am proud that we are making it easier for veterans to participate in the democracy they put their lives on the line to protect.”

************** City Information:

October is National Fire Prevention Month

October is Fire Prevention Month! The goal of Fire Prevention Month (and week October 9th - 15th) is to raise fire safety awareness and help ensure your home and family is protected.

Fire Prevention Week the longest-running US public health observance on record celebrates its 100th anniversary this October! The Fire Prevention Week 2022 theme, “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape,” promotes potentially life-saving messages that can mean the difference between life and death in a fire. Developing a home escape plan with all members of the household and practicing it regularly ensures that everyone knows what to do when the smoke alarm sounds and uses that time wisely.

Fire Prevention Week is the perfect time to educate and talk with your whole family about fire safety – including testing alarms, changing the batteries, or upgrading to 10-year sealed battery alarms, knowing how to use a fire extinguisher and escape route planning.
