The “Taste of Newport” event is Sunday, June 9th rain or shine from 11am-7pm. The 600-700-800 blocks of Monmouth Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the event. The event is designed to showcase some of Newport’s finest “tastes” around the city.
Participating Newport restaurants and food businesses include: Arnie’s on the Levee , BB Riverboats, Bayou Fish House, Beef O’Brady’s, Bello’s Bike Pops, Bernhard’s Bakery, Carabello Coffee, Coaches Corners, Dixie Chili, Gourmet Chili, Jersey Mike’s Subs, JerZees Pub & Grub, Mammoth Coffee & Co., Mokka and the Sunset Bar & Grill, Newberry Bros. Coffee, Newport Pizza Company, Newport Syndicate, Peluso Market, Pompilios, Shortnecks Bar & Grill, Sis’s On Monmouth, and Wiedemann Lager Beer.
All food items will be priced under $5. The Taste will also feature live music, entertainment, sidewalk sales and more.

Italianfest, named a Top 20 Event for June by the Southeast Tourism Society, is held along Newport’s Riverboat Row between the Purple People and Taylor-Southgate Bridges. The festival has authentic Italian food and live Italian music performed by entertainers from around the nation and from “the old country”, a Golf Outing, and a Family Photo Booth showcasing the history of Italian families that settled in Newport generations ago. Other fun includes a pizza eating contest, a cooking contest, games, and rides for the little ones. Events kick off with a Bocci Ball Tournament at Pompilio’s Restaurant, at 4 p.m. on Wed., June 12th. The event averages 100,000 visitors. For more info, call 859-292-3666.
**AMERICA'S CELEBRATION - NEWPORT MOTORCYCLE RALLY

This celebration will include fireworks on the riverfront, games, live entertainment, food, contests and prizes! Motorcycle show registration is Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and awards will be given out on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. to the best-looking bikes. In 2011, there were more than 55,000 visitors. A celebration of the best in arts in Kentucky, this second annual event will feature dozens of regional artists presenting their paintings, glass, photographs, ceramics, jewelry and crafts. The Queen City Sausage Festival is dedicated to the region’s rich history of sausage making and the enjoyment of grilling. Queen City Sausage is the largest independent producer of authentic craft sausages in Greater Cincinnati. Each of the festival food vendors will feature creative sausage dishes including freshly prepared metts, brats, specialty sausages, goetta and more. The Newport Oktoberfest is promised to be the most authentic Oktoberfest in the area. The event will be in the Munich Oktoberfest style of large Fest Tent sponsored by German Beer Breweries.
