Planning
and Development is in charge of all planning and zoning activities within
the City. Day to day
activities include answering inquiries about development related issues,
reviewing zoning compliance for new houses, decks, fences and swimming
pools. Planning and
Development also coordinates review of development plans for residential
and commercial development.
Planning
and Development also works closely with Economic Development on updating
and implementing new City Improvements Programs.
The
Comprehensive Plan for the City of Newport is a document, which states an
overall vision for the community and establishes desired goals.

Newport Zoning Ordinance is available free from our web site, or if you
would like to purchase a hard copy of the Zoning Ordinance or
Comprehensive Plan, you may do so at the Newport Municipal Complex located
at 998 Monmouth Street, Newport, Kentucky 41071.
Residents
may not realize that even the smallest of home improvements may require
approval by Planning and Development. Before commencing with any home
project, please contact our Planning and Development Coordinator to verify
if a permit is necessary.
