The Newport Public Works Section´s main service to the community is to provide street maintenance. This consists of maintaining street signs, fixing potholes, painting center lines and crosswalks.

In addition to these tasks the Public Works Section is also responsible for the following activities:

• Brush Pickup

• Leaf Pickup

• Street, Curb, Alley & Parking Lot Repair

• Pool maintenance

• Dead Animal Removal (for animals hit in the public right-of-way - does not include pets.)

• Grass Mowing for All City Property

• Ballfield Maintenance

• Litterfest

• Flood Protection & Flood Wall Gate Monitoring

• City Vehicle Maintenance

• Street Lights

• Litter and Trash Pickup

• Special Event / Setup & Teardown

• Street Cleaning - Sweeping and Snow Removal

Street Sweeping - maintenance crews operate the City´s street sweeper. The street sweeper routinely covers the entire street grid of the City on a monthly basis.
